(CNN) – Russia transfers Iskander-M missile systems with nuclear capability to Belarus in close proximity, says Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Putin led President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus in a reunion in St. Petersburg that called for “ballistic missiles to be used as cruise missiles, as well as conventional nuclear weapons,” according to the Kremlin.
Russia launched its February 24 invasion of part of Belarus, bordering northern Ukraine. Away from the war, Moscow used Minsk as a satellite base, including for its aerial operations from Russia to Ukraine, because its intelligence was replicated by OTAN’s aircraft.
On Saturday, Ukraine affirmed that Russian forces had dispersed multiple militias against the regions of Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy from Belarus.
In a reunion transcript, Lukashenko described Putin as “stressed” because, as he said, his flights from United States to OTAN were “trained to carry nuclear weapons” near the border with Belarus.
Putin’s idea that he considers “an equivalent response” to his flights or that he is capturing Russian fighter jets, which are currently depopulated in Belarus, in order to “find nuclear weapons.”
