There is a change in the healthcare business model

As the epidemic seems to be giving way, it cannot be said that it is over yet, what has been learned is valued, in the case of Mexico, what needs to be done to improve the health care system, not just the public but also the private sector. which is playing an increasingly important role, really responding to the needs of the patient.

And the introduction of technology is one of them. The issue was widely discussed a few days ago at the Smart Health Leaders Summit, where experts from Mexico and Latin America spoke about the challenges ahead.

There are many important points in this panel that need to be saved. It seems that one of the lessons learned from Covid-19 is that digital conversion in medicine needs to be accelerated, but there are some vital points that need to be put in place for it to really work.

And when it comes to the specific private health care sector, it is essential that it already function as an integrated health care system for the Mexican patient.

In this regard, during the above-mentioned event, we spoke with Javier Potes, the director of the Mexican Hospital Consortium (CMH), who showed that from the beginning there should be a change in the business model in which the hospital industry operates. . We must forget about the traditional model, he says, “find the best way to work with all health care providers – hospitals, doctors, insurers, laboratories, technology suppliers.” experience. And when that’s done, then: start talking about using new technologies under a new model.

He adds that it is pointless to try to use the latest technologies under the model of traditional care, because then you are just trying to do what is done with paper, only now with computers. The only advantage is the space saving.

“The problem is not technological, the technology already exists. If we have not been able to accept it correctly, it is because we are missing the previous quantum flight. “We must first create appropriate models to more effectively address the needs of the patient; they must focus today, not on the treatment of the disease, but on the maintenance of health.”

And based on Javier Potts’ discovery, the point is that the private system, like the public one, has turned to prevention, and that’s the challenge. But not everyone seems to see it.

For example, there has been a case of an epidemic of home care workers trying to quickly satisfy patients’ need for treatment without going to the hospital or doctor’s office, but in fact those doctors or providers designed the option on their knees և they are isolated , that is, they are not integrated into the health care system, but that is precisely because the system articulation itself is missing.

But this, which is easy to say, implies new arrangements among all actors, even starting with a change in the health care financing model, where the goal is primarily to keep the patient healthy so that all health care providers meet that goal. .

This, as a second step, involves changing the relationship between the actors, based on a new interoperability agreement that sets out how information will flow at different levels, where the patient also speaks, to define how to clearly improve their experience.

All this goes, says Potts, before the technological unification, which would be the third step, because otherwise, with everything և technology, if this rearrangement is not done according to the new surgery և business model, the patient will continue to stumble again and again. Lack of coordination and articulation of the private health care system.

Generation change in Amelaf

Yesterday, the Mexican Association of Pharmaceutical Laboratories (Amelaf) held its annual meeting of 45 members of its laboratories to elect Luis Verduzko as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Arturo Morales from Landsteiner handed him the courier after leading the association for four years.

Thus, the new board of directors is headed by Luis Verduzko from Gelpharma as chairman, Carlos Lopez Young from Medix as vice-chairman, and Ignacio Luna from Biofarma as vice-chairman. Juan de Villafranca, who was the CEO, was elected CEO of Amelaf as a sign of fair recognition of his work.

And they set up an և Justice Commission with two former presidents, Arturo Morales երն Fernando Ramos, Jenbio….

It is interesting the generational change of the head of the body in the pharmaceutical representation. New President Luis Verduzco, originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, owns leading laboratories that have been in the national drug market for more than 50 years.
