Una dieta saludable rica en polyphenoles previene la inflammationa. This is how it is collected by a study carried out by the group of Biomarkers and Nutritional Metabolomics and Alimentaria of the University of Barcelona. Frutas y verduras de la dieta saludable

The polyphenols are compuestos naturales que ingerimos principally través de fruits y verduras de la dieta. Estos son los alimentos considered probiotics. Las propiedades antioxidantes y anti-inflammatoryas de varios polyphenoles dietéticos son bien conocidas. Y tienen la capacidad para interactar con las bacteria presentes en nuestro intestino.

Así se producen los posbióticos, lo que suma a sus efectos positivos en la salud. Los posbióticos como el IPA son sustancias producidas por probioticos. En este caso los polyphenoles de la dieta, que ejercen efectos metabolicos con actividad beneficiosa sobre la salud.

Regular physical activity, consumption of tobacco and alcohol

Each time there are more evidences that confirm that the regular consumption of polyphenols in the diet can contribute to healthy aging, especially as they form part of a healthy diet (like the Mediterranean) and as they are associated with a lifestyle that includes regular physical activity , evite consumption of tobacco and alcohol, and reduce mental and physical stress.

The study, which has international participation, from the University of Milan (Italy), Quadram Institute (UK) and IRCCS INRCA (Italy) shows that the interaction between polyphenols and the intestinal microbiota can induce the proliferation of bacteria with the capacity of synthesizing beneficial metabolites, such as indole 3-propionic acid (IPA).

Beneficial effects

El IPA es un posbiótico que tiene propiedades antioxidantes, anti-inflammatory y neuroprotectoras, y contribute a aumentar la salud de la pared intestinal. The results, obtained in collaboration with other researchers from Italy and the United Kingdom, indicate that the diet rich in polyphenols generated a significant increase in the levels of IPA in the blood, together with a reduction in the levels of inflammation and promoted changes in the bacteria of the microbiota, the order Bacteroidales emerges.

Curiously, no se observaron los mismos efectos en voluntarios with renal enfermedad, presumably como consecuencia de una composition alterada de la microbiota intestinal. Estos sujetos también se caracterizaron por quantitas más bajas de IPA at the beginning of the trial, compared to volunteers with normal renal function.

Enfermedad renal chronica

In this respect, Cristina Andrés-Lacueva concluded that “these results could be clinically relevant because low levels of IPA are associated with a rapid decline in renal function and chronic renal disease”. In conclusion, a diet rich in polyphenols incorporating probiotic foods like green tea, black chocolate, apples, pomegranates and/or arándanos improves the production of IPA through changes in the composition of the intestinal microbiota.

Este incremento de los nivelos de un posbiótico como elIPA en adultos mayores podría beneficiarlos al retrasar o prevenir enfermedades crónicas que perjudiquen su calidad de vida. Una dieta saludable rica en polyphenoles previene la inflammationa.
